From the Front Office

Dear Parents,

As you know we are having our Fun Run to raise money for Hamilton Avenue School on Friday, May 31. Here is the schedule and I hope you can join us to cheer on your children.

8:45 - 9:45 Grades 4 & 5

10:00 - 11:00 Grades 2 & 3

11:00 - 12:00 Grades K & 1

It is very important that you log on to funrun.com this weekend to pledge money to support our school and your child. Every pledge helps so ask relatives, friends and co-workers to help Hamilton Avenue. If you pledge: $1 per lap - we could make $35; 50 cents a lap is a donation of $17.50. You can pledge any amount and it is simple, just log on to funrun.com.

Thank you and have a great Memorial Day weekend.

From the Nurse

Greenwich Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) is excited to host the first annual GEMS Kids Triathlon at Greenwich High School on Sunday, June 9th!! It will be a fun community event for local youth, ages 6-14, which promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, builds self-confidence and fosters important life skills. For information and registration information visit www.gemskidstri.org

Medicine for Summer School:

If your child is going to be attending summer school this summer and your child has medicine in the Nurse's office, please contact the Nurse as soon as possible to be sure that your medication forms do not expire at the end of June. You will need to pick up your child's medicine on or before the last day of school. I DO NOT give medicine to students to transport home.

Measles Information Update:

From the CDC: In 2000, measles was declared eliminated from the United States. However, the number of measles cases so far in 2019 exceeds the number of annual cases during any entire year since the declaration was made. The number of case reports continues to climb. As of May 10, 2019, 839 measles cases have been confirmed in 23 states. Of these cases, 621 (74%) were reported in children, with 109 (13%) in infants aged <12 months; and 738 cases (88%) have been associated with close-knit communities, primarily in New York. Despite a national measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination coverage level of about 95%, 1 in 12 children in the United States is not receiving their first dose of MMR vaccine on time, underscoring considerable measles susceptibility across the country. The majority of measles importations into the United States are from unvaccinated U.S. residents who become infected while traveling abroad.

If your child has not been vaccinated against the Measles please contact your child's physician to discuss this very important health matter.
