What's happening in the Nayatt Library?
Did you Know?
Did you know Nayatt Kindergarten students love reading "beary" much? They are reading lots of fiction and nonfiction bear books in January library classes? They also are learning how to use Tumblebooks on Chromebooks to listen to an audio-book completely independently. They are amazing!
Did you know Nayatt First Grade students are experts at selecting award-winning books? They are learning about the Caldecott medal named after Randolph Caldecott. Students love reading books that were awarded Caldecott medals and honor medals. Readers can't wait to find out the titles of the books that win the award for this year.
Did you know all Second Grade students can independently use Google drive to create documents? They have officially all become "techies." Second graders have researched animals and will be diving into discovering biographies. They are also posting independently to Seesaw. They are growing to be confident readers and are checking out an abundance of chapter books.
Did you know all Third Grade students are creating documents in Google drive and are beginning a new research project focusing on frogs? Third graders are reading many new books in the library and have reflected on setting goals for reading in the new year. Third graders are also practicing keyboarding. Our favorite typing site is Typing Club. Typing Club can be accessed via the Nayatt library site at home. Students will need to use their Google drive address and password. There are also many fun typing sites on the Nayatt library web page.
Let's all make a pledge to read, read, read this winter! Don't forget you can access wonderful resources via the Barrington Public Library website. The world is at your fingertips!
Warmly,
Mrs. Bertoncini

Nayatt Technology News
Seesaw:
Teachers and students are doing a wonderful job of posting student work and documenting teaching and learning at Nayatt. Last week, grades 1, 2 and 3 focused on students posting to Seesaw using the Chromebooks. It’s exciting to see the growth everyone is making using this communication tool.
Big CLEVER News:
We are going to be getting very clever at Nayatt!! All K-3 students will be getting “clever” badges. These badges will allow students to log onto devices with their badges instead of logging on with their very long Google addresses. It also logs students into their Seesaw accounts and Google Drive. It is sure to be efficient and exciting!
Coding:
Mrs. Muccino has completed a round of coding using Tynker with all grade one students. She has also worked with groups of kindergarten students to explore coding. We are going to be celebrating an Hour of Code in the Library during the month of February with grades 1-3. Right now, we are focused on research projects and learning to navigate Google Drive and Seesaw.
Go, Go, Pebblego!
Pebblego is a wonderful digital resource for research. Thanks to the Nayatt PTO, we now have access to the Pebblego Biography database. It is a wonderful digital tool for students to gather facts and information about animals, science and about people who have made contributions to the world.
Ready, Set, Type!
There are lots of fun sites on the Nayatt Library page for practicing keyboarding and typing. Students love developing a new confidence for typing with confidence!
