Happy Thanksgiving

The first part of the 2022-2023 school year has gone by quickly. We are just about finished with the first trimester and are charging ahead.

We are thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of the families in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, para-educators, nurses, office staff, counselors, kitchen staff, support staff, therapists and administrators who really care about the students and have their best interests at heart.

I would like to wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Holman

There will be no school for students on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25. We are thankful to work with wonderful students and families at Brookdale Elementary. Have a Happy Thanksgiving holiday.

WE APPRECIATE OUR CUSTODIANS!

To say, we would be a mess without them, is an understatement! Kayla Kennedy and Christopher Leach take such good care of students, staff and our building. They work tirelessly to make sure that our school environment is clean and safe. Please join us as we honor Mrs. Kennedy & Mr. Leach November 28 - December 2.

Lindquist Dental Clinc

They will be at Brookdale on Thursday, December 1. Only students who turn in their permission slips will receive an oral screening. Forms are available in the school office. Those students who return their permission slips will be provided with an oral health screening & assessment. They will also receive an oral health report and a goodie bag to take home at the end of their visit.

This year, there is an option for Lindquist to provide sealants. If you opt to have this done, it will be on a different day than the initial assessment. and ONLY if there is no sign of tooth decay. Be sure to check the Dental Sealants box on the permission slip.

No child is turned away due to the inability to pay. If you have questions, please contact Sierra Rambow at 253-298-3108.

Report Cards

Report Cards – It’s hard to believe that we are already getting to the end of our first trimester. Next Wednesday, November 30 we will dismiss students at 12:35 so that teachers can work on student report cards. Scores will reflect students’ progress toward end of the year grade level standards. If a student receives a / or X in a standard it means that the teacher doesn’t have enough information to give a score (/) or has not introduced the standard yet (X). Report cards will be going home on Friday, December 9. Please take time to review your child’s report card with them and don’t hesitate to contact the teacher if you have any questions.

LOST AND FOUND

Our lost and found is overflowing. Please have your child check for any missing items. A reminder that many coats look the same. It is very important to write your child’s name inside their coats. All unclaimed clothing will be given to a charity during Winter Break.

IMPORTANT SCHOOL REMINDERS

STUDENT EARLY DISMISSAL – If your child has an appointment and is leaving before the end of the school day, please make sure you send a note that morning letting the teacher and the office know. Also, please allow enough time for pick up. To preserve precious class time, we do not call students to the office until you have checked them out in person (remember your ID).

SCHEDULE CHANGES - The end of the day at Brookdale is very hectic. If you forgot to send a note in the morning (which is preferred) and need to call the school with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 3:15 p.m. After 3:15 the office is busy assisting students and parents and will not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of the day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. Thank you!

UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION - If any of your information has changed (address, contact info., email address, etc.) please contact the office right away. This year more than ever, it will be important to have the most current information. Also, let us know what your preferred method of contact is - phone, email, text. You can reach the office at 253.298.3100.
