2017 Science Fair
Gayman Elementary will be holding its 2017 Science Fair on February 23, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. This year’s theme is Hands-On Science. We are anxious to see what projects our students will create this year. Please encourage your child(ren) to participate in this year’s fair. There is no judgement or contest, only participation, creativity, and fun! Students may work alone or in groups. Groups may be classmates, siblings, or friends, and it’s great to work with children from other grade levels, too.
If you are interested in participating, please click here to read through the information packet. The last 2 pages include the Contract and Special Considerations form. Please print, sign, and return both of these to your child’s teacher by Friday, January 6. Each child participating needs a contract signed by a parent. If you prefer a hard copy of the packet, please ask your child’s teacher to send one home.
Look for more information in future Gayman Gazettes as well as on the Science Fair page of the Gayman website. Reminders will also come home through the Thursday folder. If you have any questions, please ask.
We are looking forward to an exciting evening!

Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
December #24. Bonding To School. Young person cares about his/her school. The student is actively engaged in promoting a positive school community. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at svass@cbsd.org, or printed out and sent into the office.
