AIS Friday Flash
Friday, August 17, 2018
Bienvenue! ¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!
A note from our Head of School, Jacques Weber:
We have been so excited to welcome all our AIS learners and families back and welcome new ones to our community for the start of the new academic year! It has been wonderful to be in classrooms with students as they establish new routines, make new friends, create classroom agreements, and - of course - develop the skills and knowledge required to thrive in the world of today and tomorrow. Outside of the classroom, it has been equally fantastic to see students help and support one another in so many ways. With 47 new students on campus this week, I have witnessed many instances of veteran AIS students helping their new friends find places on campus, find the right adults to answer questions, and help bridge communication gaps across languages and cultures. Watching our community members live out the vision and mission of AIS has been very inspiring this week to say the least! My team members and I wish to reiterate our thanks for the trust you place in us to live, learn, and grow with your children. We look forward to an excellent year ahead with you all!
Pizza Friday Program-Register by Monday, Aug. 20th
You may elect to register for the optional Pizza Friday program. Each Friday, parent volunteers serve cheese pizza to those registered participants. The first Pizza Friday will be August 24th and is served each week the school is in session until the end of the year. Remember to round out the Friday meals with a side of fruit or vegetables.
You may sign up through the google form here no later than Monday, August 20th and make your payment to AIS PTO via check in the Pizza Friday folder at the reception desk. We prefer checks for tracking purposes, but you may pay via credit card at New Parent's Night (8/23 from 5:30-7:00 pm). For questions, please contact Nathan Morgan.

School Reminders
We hope everyone is settling back into school routines. Please remember all students should bring a reusable water bottle daily as well as enough snacks for the school day and afterschool care, if applicable. Consult our family handbook for uniform guidelines and if you have not yet had a chance to gather all your student school supplies, please bring them with you next week. If you need a supply list, please email reception.

All families are encouraged to attend our Back to School Night on August 30th. We will give a short presentation in the auditorium, welcome new families, introduce you to members of our faculty and team, and then parents may break off for classroom sessions. Teachers will provide an overview of the year ahead, discuss classroom needs and expectations, and how you can support your child(ren)'s learning at home. Limited childcare is available for the first registered participants here.
No School-Monday, Sept 3rd
Please enjoy the day off from school for Labor Day on Monday, September 3rd.
Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you all for being a part of our community! We could not deliver such an amazing program without the support of our parents and family members. There are lots of opportunities to get involved and help.
Thanks to our PTO board for helping to launch a great school year and supporting our Meet the Teacher event this week. Thanks to each of you who already signed up to volunteer! For more information or to sign up for a shift, here is a link to our volunteer home page on signup.com. Our online page will be updated throughout the year with additional events and ways to help and stay involved with school happenings.
