Gallatin High Update

Week of May 15-20, 2023

Just One More Week Until the Raptor Run!

Raptor Bands is putting together an in-person 5K run/walk fundraiser on Saturday, May 20th! Rather than just selling another product you probably don't need, we are trying to bring the community together. We'd love to see many of you and your families at the event. Whether you can attend or not, please help spread the word!

Here is the sign up link.

English IV Senior Projects

It's the time of year when seniors are completing their outreach projects. This spring we had outstanding projects with Martina leading a yoga class at lunch to promote mental health and wellness. Emma conducted a self defense class for other students. Emerson designed a shirt, available for purchase downtown at the Montana Shirt Co. and all of the proceeds go towards the HRDC's homeless youth program. Great job, seniors!

Bozeman Community Center Update

A few weeks ago, the City of Bozeman held an Open House at Gallatin High to update community members about plans for the proposed west side Community Center. There was a great turnout and lots of rich conversations with residents of all ages.

These concept designs are based off of community feedback from the nearly 1,400 survey responses we received and hundreds of attendees at in person and virtual events and meetings we held with folks across the community. You can check out the concept designs at the link above at your convenience.

Next steps for the project are to develop cost models and the language that will go before voters in the November 2023 election. Stay tuned for more information as we move from community engagement to voter education ahead of the election!

You can stay up to date on the proposal by visiting this page or subscribing for updates.

Dance Success

Last weekend Sage Bokema, Logan Livesay, Josie Simcoe, Georgia Smith, Jesselle Crane, Elsye Robinson, Jane Chase, and Wrigley Loucks attended their last dance competition of the season with Tanya’s Dance Company, earning high adjudications and placing top overall with their group routines.

Host Families Needed

The Bozeman Noon Rotary Club is seeking Rotary Youth Exchange Host Families for the Gallatin High School Incoming Student for the 2023-2024 school year. We will be hosting a young man from Italy. The club typically seeks 3 host families who will each host the student for approximately 3 months during the school year.

If you would like more information about hosting, additional details can be found at this link.

Please reach out to our GHS Rotary liaison, John Patterson, at jspatterson972@gmail.com or 406-581-9767 if you are interested.
