Hour of Code coming, December 7-13

The hour of Code is coming. Help introduce 100 million students to computer science. This is what 90% of the schools don't teach. This is for all ages. Please consider getting your entire school involved this year!

Mid-Winter STEM Teacher organization, January 15, 2016 at Gordon Cooper Tech

This year the conference will be held at Gordon Cooper Technology center in Shawnee Oklahoma on January 15 at 8:00 am. The price for the conference, continental breakfast, and hot lunch will be $25. OkACTE members receive a polo style shirt, the sizes are all in men’s. OkACTE members will also receive a $10 discount off the ticket price by entering their email address in the promotional code before ordering.

This is a conference for all STEM teachers and administrators with specific professional development in STEM.

TSA TEAMS competition March 9, 2016 ODCTE, Stillwater, OK

TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science) is a one-day competition for students in middle and high school that allows them to apply their knowledge of skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to issues facing our global society. Focused on an annual theme, original academic and innovative concepts are developed for the competition based on the National Academy of Engineering’s Grand Challenges. Engaging in the challenges requires critical job-readiness skills such as teamwork, analytical thinking, and multi-dimensional problem solving.

In 2016 students will explore topics such as optics, genomics and space exploration.
