What's happening in the coolest portable in town!
Camp Allen is Just Around the Corner!
Campfires, nature hikes, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, teambuilding, and great memories with friends -- Camp Allen is going to be AWESOME!!! October 5th will be here before we know it. If you haven't let us know already, we need to know if your child will be going this year. If you missed the parent meeting, we will send you a red folder with all of the information.
Topics of Study
Math: We will focus on the four basic operations with whole numbers, mental math, and using bar models to solve word problems. We will begin having daily (or almost daily) multiplication speed drills for anyone who is not fluent with their multiplication facts. These will be low-pressure and on your child's level. We continue our enrichment program of "Math Rules!" with fun challenges and prizes.
Science: Our first science test is this Friday. The study guide went home today. It says "Part One" because we are not finished with our study of matter. The questions on the test will be mostly matching and multiple choice, with a couple of short answers.
We also began an engineering design challenge of building a boat today. Ask your child about it. :-)
ELA: The students brought home their spelling lists and alphabetizing homework today.
They are reading the same novels and doing writer's workshop.
