Janey’s Ride motorcycle run is held each year on the last Sunday of June. The event benefits the wonderful men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities Life Unlimited supports. This group ride, through the rolling hills of the Kansas City northland, starts at the Liberty campus of Life Unlimited where ride captains Victoria Dunfee and Duncan Barnett, take riders on an eighty mile route through Kearney, Lathrop, Smithville and ends at the campus with a celebratory finish!
The event kicks off at 8AM with biker registration, breakfast, silent auction, entertainment and a variety of vendor tents. Kickstands are up at 10:00AM. and the ride begins.
In Lathrop, a complimentary lunch is provided for all riders and passengers. After lunch, everyone heads for Smithville and returns to the Manor for refreshments, entertainment and the announcement of winners from the bike show, dice roll, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle.
Janey’s Ride has a very dedicated committee, most of whom have been with the ride since its inception. Our thanks to Dennis & Carol Barker, Duncan Barnett, Bill & Victoria Dunfee, Jeff Heishman, Jeff & Laurie Knights, Ryan & Donna Hicks, and all our great volunteers for their service. It takes each and every person to make a difference. No action is insignificant. Each of us holds the power to make the world a better place for men and women with developmental disabilities: rider, passenger, volunteer, sponsor, donor, entertainer, vendor… that’s what you do by participating in Janey’s Ride.
