Hot Cocoa Stand Project
Mrs. Swift's student have been working for the past week on creating their very own Hot Cocoa Stand!
They had to develop a name, theme to their business, a business plan, a charity to donate some of their proceeds to, a menu, an employee schedule, a music playlist to play during their presentation, social media posts (on paper only) and more!
Hot Cocoa Stands were up and running for "business" Wednesday with Mrs. Gandy and Mrs. Welch's classes coming in to "purchase" items.
There were prizes up for grabs for the stand that brings in the most money and for the stand that is voted best business.
The Outsiders
Mr. Mosetti's classes in Purple Pod celebrated finishing their class mentor novel, The Outsiders. Students dressed up as their favorite characters (mostly Greasers), brought in only foods/drinks referenced in the book, and began watching the classic 80s film. Stay Gold!
Fundamentals of French
Fundamentals 7 French students are learning to use songs, illustrations, prior knowledge, and context clues to work together to define vocabulary words and understand their fourth story of the school year - La chenille qui fait des trous - or, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Their collaboration and decoding skills are improving every day!
Operations with Decimals
Concluding the Operations with Decimals Unit, Mr. Goodwin’s 6th Grade math classes were completing various activities to demonstrate mastery.
Some of the activities included: making posters, flip grid videos, completing IXL lessons, and multi-operation worksheets.
The students did a wonderful job of showing their inner creativity and originality. Thank you to Olivia Walling, Molly Rooney, Matias Mogollon Palma, and Phillip White.

Winter Spirit Week
French Carolers
On Monday, December 20, the Honors 7th and 8th grade students teamed up with the High School Honors French 3 and 4 and AP students to sing festive carols for our building. After the carols, the guests were invited to walk around the gym and take part in interactive French stations made by the Fernwood students in which holiday-themed French culture and language was taught. It was a nice, student-led event in which a lot of different types of learning took place! Amazing job by all students involved!! We are so proud of you!
