Attendance Matters
But wait, there’s more…if a student misses one day or less in a nine weeks, he/she will receive a paw print charm on a necklace to show the world how self-directed he/she is with attendance. We recognize that absences are going to occur, but to keep our students on track for not being at risk for attendance for the year, we have set a goal of not missing more than one day a nine weeks.
Here are the number of students out of each grade level that achieved this goal for the first nine weeks:
Kindergarten= 24 out of 63 students (38%)
First Grade= 25 out of 57 students (44%)
Second Grade= 19 out of 63 students (30%)
Third Grade= 30 out of 64 students (47%)
Fourth Grade= 22 out of 57 students (39%)
The road to success is paved with daily attendance!

DEVOted Readers Program
How to access Lexia at Home
Lexia is an online reading program that we use for all students here at Magness Creek in grades K-4. It has 21 levels. Students took a placement test at the beginning of the year and were placed on the level they should begin with. Every time a student passes a level, the office will give the student a prize and document the progress on a superstar wall by the office. Various classroom teachers have systems in their classrooms as well to further reward units and time spent on Lexia. We have seen Lexia grow students substantially in the area of reading. As you know, chromebooks stay here at school this year, but we wanted you to have the information for your child to be able to access Lexia at home on a personal device if they would want to devote more time to this program after hours:
*Go to https://lexiacore5.com.
*Use your child's teacher email to log in. Then use your child's Student ID for the username and password. Please call the office or ask your child's teacher for the Student ID number if you do not know it.
