Health Professions Society Meeting

We are now alive! Welcome to the new club, the Health Professions Society. We are a new society for those that are wanting to pursue any career within healthcare. All are welcome, from any major. We will be working closely with the existing Pre-Health Society and aim to have many collaborative events together. The main goal of this society is to assist the students with being a more competitive applicant when it's time for them to apply. This means education and exposure to all of the health professions, as well as holistic assistance, that is assistance with volunteering, shadowing and research. We will have workshops on resume writing, personal essay writing and interview techniques.

A big thank you to all who attended the first "pre-existing" meeting of the club. Your interest and efforts have allowed us to be alive!

Duties Include: Lead club's direction. Assist advisor with all activities and coordination of all guests. Communicate all plans with advisor. Assist with lunch coordination. Assist with trips and service activities. Delegate authority and oversees other officers. And much more!

The liaisons will cater to specific needs of year of study and peer mentoring organization

Health Professions Society Objectives

The Purposes of the Health Professions Society

  1. To provide students interested in pursuing a health career with the support and encouragement necessary for success with their studies.
  2. To make the student a more competitive candidate for post-graduate health professional study, by ensuring the student is assisted in all areas of application.
  3. To provide a forum for the discussion of any issues the students may face in their pursuit of a health career.
  4. To educate the students of all possible choices of health careers and assist them with making an informed choice. This will include guest speakers and trips to institutes. There are a wide variety of post-graduation options of which students are unaware.

Membership Requirements

To be a member of The Health Professions Society the following requirements are needed:

  1. Have an interest in pursuing a health profession
  2. Participate in research
  3. Minimum participation of 2 service events per year
  4. Must attend a minimum of 50% of all meetings
  5. Pay dues ($10/yr.)

Study Abroad Fair 2017

Thursday, Sep. 21st, 6-8pm

Buyer Auditorium, The Citadel.

The Office of Study Abroad, International, and Domestic Programs (OIDP) will be hosting the annual Citadel Study Abroad Fair next Thursday, September 21, 2017from 6:00pm-8:00pm in Buyer Auditorium.

Come by and find out more about The Citadel in Lithuania - a Healthcare experience. This program will incorporate 4 weeks of shadowing experience at one of the largest and most advanced hospitals in the Baltic. You will shadow 4 different specialties of your choice. Those interested in Physical Therapy will have their shadowing geared towards PT and sports medicine.

Dates: May 13th - June 9th, 2017
