THE BUZZ
EDNEYVILLE ELEMENTARY
AIM HIGH - BELIEVE IN MYSELF - CELEBRATE LEARNING
TIME TO REFLECT
NOTES from Ms. Branscombe:
• A deeper understanding of why we collaborate and what the right work of teams truly is in a collaborative school
• How important it is for teachers to build shared ownership as a school of students- not just classroom teachers but “school teachers”
• The notion that we are not coblaborating… we are collaborating
• The understanding of respectful, dignified discussions to make learning happen
• Systematic expectations – continue to clarify and be transparent about what is expected
• Right time and right work is important
• To understand the importance of giving students feedback that is timely and focused on where they currently are in their learning (why we do formative assessments)
• Feedback is about teacher to student but also student to teacher
• Teachers must be on the “bus with us going in the right direction”
• “It made sense today that we have a big picture and all own a piece of it”
• “There is no place that I would rather teach”
NEXT STEPS
• School wide decisions around power/prioritized standards that can be data teamed around. Important questions to ask include: What are the big gaps? What are the learning progressions that are critical to moving student learning at Edneyville Elementary School? How do we vertically team often to discuss this and understand the learning progressions and scaffolding that must occur?
• How do we have deep discussions during these vertical teams that will help clarify what students need to master and how we share this ownership as a school?
• As Grade level Teams, how do we lead our PLC/data teams to ensure that we are working on the right work?
