The Importance of Reading

Many families ask, "What homework does my child have each night?" Our teachers want you to know that reading is the most important homework every day. We provide some independent reading time to students every day in school, but students need more reading time at home each day in order to practice and grow enough. Our youngest students can look at picture books independently and listen to a family member read a book. Our older students (2nd-5th grade) should be able to sit with a book and focus for an extended period of time. Be sure to make it fun!

Sign Up for Conferences

It is time to sign up for October Teacher Conferences. They will be held on:

Wed, October 13 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 14 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

You can choose if you would like to have your conference in-person at Lakeview - or - if you would prefer a virtual conference.

Click here for the Sign-up Genius.

IMPORTANT: Please be sure to look for the correct teacher on the tabs across the top of the Sign-up Genius when you open it. The first tab that opens is for 4K conferences. Scroll across to find older students.

On the Lakeview website

Do you want to know what is for breakfast and lunch each day at Lakeview?

Do you need to know what specials your student has each day?

Both of these (and so much more) is available on the "For Families" tab of the Lakeview website.

Road Construction

You can see by the barrels that construction on Manistique and 8th Avenue is starting. This is going to significantly impact student drop-off and pickup for about a month. Please pay special attention when crossing the street and choose safe spots to cross. If you drive, you will probably not be able to park on Manistique, so arrive early to find alternative spots to park and walk in. Please consider using Marion Avenue (in front of the school) more.

Picture Retakes

Picture retakes will be on Wednesday, October 13. If your child did not get pictures taken on September 8, he/she will have a picture taken on October 13. If you do not like your pictures and want to retake the pictures, you just need to have your child bring back the old pictures on October 13. The contact information for our photographers may be found at this link (call or email them).

ROAR Awards

Do you appreciate a staff member at Lakeview? Of course you do! Show them you care by submitting their name for a ROAR Award (the grown-up version of our Golden Lions for students). Here is the link to submit - you can submit as many as you want, every week! The staff member will get a certificate and his/her name will be entered in a monthly drawing for a gift card to the place of their choice. Our staff really appreciates the nice notes. ROAR Awards are sponsored by the Lakeview PTO.
