Family Enrichment Center
Parenting Programs
Mission
To empower families and prevent child abuse by providing education, social support, crisis intervention, and a safe environment for children and their families.
Support Group
On the last Thursday night of each month, Family Enrichment Center hosts a parent support group. This is an open forum discussion of relevant issues promoting the nurturing and safety of children.
This is a free program and child care is available.
Parenting Education
Parenting classes are offered at Family Enrichment Center as a twelve week self-help course. The group meets weekly for two hours. Program topics include communication, discipline, self-esteem, and conflict resolution. We tailor each group's session to meet the needs of the participants.
Evening and day time classes are held at our 441 Church Avenue location. Prior enrollment and a $25 refundable deposit are required for all classes.
Parents as Teachers
A nationally recognized program where a parent educator goes into the home of new or expecting parents and teaches them what to expect as their child develops. This program is based upon the philosophy that a child's parents are his or hers first and most important teachers. Expectant families and families with children ages birth to five years receive personalized home visits from a certified "Parents as Teachers" educator. Parents are also invited to attend monthly group meetings.
