Happy Friday!
Thank you so much for your attendance at our Back-to-School Night! We had an amazing turnout, and we are immensely grateful for your support. We are so fortunate to have such an involved and committed community, and we know that this is the key to the success of our students. Thank you so much for all you do!
General News:
Labor Day Holiday: School will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to seeing everyone back at Roosevelt on Tuesday, the 3rd. Have a fun and safe Labor Day!
Students will start dressing out for PE on Tuesday, September 3rd. If your student has not yet purchased their PE uniforms they may purchase the uniforms online.Purchases may also be made in the school office before school and after school only.
Flag Football and Cross Country try-outs will be this Tuesday, September 3rd to Thursday, September 5th from 3:30 to 4:30pm. Health Office: It's hot out there! The Health Office would like to remind parents to send a refillable water bottle with their student daily. Please help us keep your student healthy and hydrated while on campus.
Safety Reminder: If your students are riding skateboards, bikes, or scooters to school, please ensure that they have a lock to secure their items and that they have a helmet to keep them safe. In addition, a law went into effect this year that anyone under 18 not wearing a helmet can get a fix-it ticket. If cited, they will need to complete a safety course and have a helmet that meets safety standards. We appreciate your support in having conversations about this important safety rule.
Library News: The library will open for student use on Tuesday, September 10. The library is open before school, after school, and during both lunches. Students can also visit the library during class time with a pass from their teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Westphal at deannawestphal@vistausd.org.
School Site Council Nominations Needed!
This year we are in need of TWO parent representatives for the School Site Council (SSC). The SSC meets after school approximately five times a year (click here for schedule). This is a great way to get involved and work with RMS teachers, students and Administration on school improvement and on developing our school plan. If you are interested, please click here to access the self-nomination forms (Spanish Version) and return to RMS Principal Heather Golly in the RMS main office, through the mail or via school e-mail at heathergolly@vistausd.org no later than this Sunday, September 1. We will then prepare a ballot and send it to parents for voting some time next week. We appreciate your support!
