Week 9: October 22-26
A Message from Mireles
Fall is finally here and with those cold winter nights and rainy mornings comes stuffy noses and Kleenex galore!
So I just want to start by saying, take care of yourself and your health. Make yourself a priority as much as possible, get your flu shot, take your vitamins and wear a hat!! (Gosh I sound just like your mom, sorry! ;)
In all seriousness when you're not @ 100% you can't take care of everyone else and in this profession we're all care takers and moms and dads and teachers and counselors and friends to many and we need you! So don't forget about YOU!
Happy Fall ya'll!

The Career Day Committee needs your help! While we sent home a request for speakers with the report cards to our families, we didn't get very many responses. Through casual conversations, several of you have mentioned people you know who would be interested.
Please talk to those people! Career day is the morning of January 25 - if they can commit, fill out the attached form. The Committee would LOVE to have more speakers than we need, and we'll get in touch with everyone who is interested.
Thanks Patriots

The Día de los Muertos altar has been set up in the front foyer and we want to invite you to bring in a picture of a loved one who has passed so we may honor them on our altar. You can also accompany the picture with food items or other mementos. It is set up near the trophy case at the front of the campus that houses Mr. Rawlinson’s display. Feel free to bring the pictures in a frame or if you’d like you can bring a photocopy and we can mount them on colorful card stock. When we take the altar down you can have the picture back. Please do label the back with a small post-it so we can return the photo and the items to you.
Thank you for sharing in this special holiday and allowing us to honor your loved ones!

As many of you know, we have made changes to our approach to ISS.
We now have 3 academic teachers assigned to ISS one period each, so that students who are in ISS are still receiving instruction from certified teachers.
Because of the time in which Ms. Hart leaves, we are going to ask Ms. Villanueva to send the ISS/SUS list out before she leaves each day at about 4:20 for those students assigned ISS/SUS the following day. This gives teachers more notice for students who will need work. Blue ISS folders will still be used for sending work. However, we will still have times when a student’s behavior warrants an immediate ISS assignment. In this case, students will engage in work that is housed in the ISS Drive. Until this week, unfortunately, the new ISS room did not have connectivity. Now we do!
In the ISS Drive there are folders for every subject. In each subject folder there is a folder for each grade level. Departments will work on having assignments related to the TEKS that is covered in each grading period uploaded so that ISS staff and teachers can download those assignments and engage students in that learning. In cases wherein you are not able to send an assignment that you did with your class, you can substitute these assignments when assessing learning and assigning grades.
This will be discussed more in your upcoming department meetings.
