ABOUT GRANVILLE STANLEY HALL

  • Born in Ash field, Massachusetts on February 1st, 1846.
  • Died in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 24th, 1924 at age 78.
  • Doctoral Adviser was William James.
  • Attended Williston Seminary and graduated from Williams College.
  • Inspired by Wilhelm Wundt's Principles of Physiological Psychology to pursue doctoral studies at Harvard University where he met William James, a fellow student.
  • In 1878, he earned the first psychology doctorate awarded in America.
  • He founded the American Psychological Association(APA).
