MYCONNECT: Collecting and Managing Student Work from Google

Have you assigned students a task which uses a Google APP and then found that your email box is FULL of Google notifications or your SHARED Google drive is out of control?


There is a solution! If you use your MyConnect Course to create an assignment where students submit the URL from their Google Work you have the ability to keep your email box empty of Google notifications and manage your SHARED Google Drive.

INNOVATIONU - PUSD

We are excited to announce that we will be launching a new InnovationU challenge which will focus on developing ideas to effectively implement technology. InnovationU serves as the point of connection for all 4,000 employees across our district to discuss, collaborate, and discuss priorities for the District. The current challenge will focus on helping develop our District’s priorities for equitable and effective integration of technology resources to accelerate and personalize learning for every student. The results will provide input for this year's LCAP plan. Stay tuned for more information.

AESOP REPLACES SUBFINDER

Beginning April 1st SubFinder will be replaced by AESOP. Aesop is the new web-based substitute management program that all school sites will be using. Trainings are scheduled during our Pro Grow Day on Friday, January 15.

ONLINE TYPING PROGRAM

On Tuesday, January 19th, a proposal to purchase Typing Agent to teach keyboarding skills to students in grades K-8 will be going to the PUSD Board for approval. If it is approved, LSS will be hosting two introductory training webinars. Both webinars will be archived and posted in MyConnect for your convenience. We are excited about this opportunity for students to improve their keyboarding skills.

TECHNOLOGY SCOPE & SEQUENCE UPDATE

On December 2 classified, certificated and administrative staff met to begin the process of developing a scope and sequence of technology skills aligned to the state standards. The goal is to develop a set of skills that every student should master as they progress through school in PUSD. The committee is scheduled to meet again on January 28th. The committee plans to complete the DRAFT standards by February.

TECHNOLOGY & ALL STUDENTS ACHIEVING PLAN

At the end of this month we will be launching the process to develop a Technology and All Students Achieving Plan. A Steering Committee comprised of classified and certificated staff, parents, and students will lead this effort. The initial work of this year will focus on comprehensive input established with broad stakeholder engagement within the Local Accountability Plan.

PUSD FAMILY COMPUTER GIVEAWAY IS NEARING

Over the winter break the IT Department assembled, updated, and serviced over 100 recycled computers that will be provided to PUSD families in need. At the end of the month we will distribute these computers to our families.

LIMITED ACCESS - SERVER UPDATE SCHEDULED

On January 16 and 17 we will be doing a server update. To ensure we keep all our servers updated we have developed a plan to update and install patches to our servers twice a year.


Your home and shared directories and files, PDS, and site websites will be unavailable for periods of time during this update.


Synergy, Email, MyConnect, Compass Learning, SEIS and PeopleSoft will still be accessible during the update.


We will also be updating our servers on July 2 and 3, 2016.
