FREE Breakfast-National School Breakfast Week Continues This Week

We invite ALL students in preschool through 6th grade to enjoy a FREE breakfast during our celebration of National School Breakfast Week. Breakfast will be served from 7:15-7:50 a.m. Research shows that students who eat school breakfast miss less school (1.5 days) and do better in math (17.5% better on math test scores). Please help celebrate National School Breakfast Week and ISTEP+ Week!

Jump Rope for Heart

William Tell Elementary students have a reputation of leading the region with funds raised from the Jump Rope for Heart event supporting the American Heart Association. This year our students raised $7,030! Thank you, students, for participating, and thank you, families, for supporting this event! Mr. Henrickson rocks!

ISTEP+ and IREAD3 Update

As you know through previous communication, the ISTEP+ Part 1 testing window is runs through March 11th. Our main days of testing are Tuesday through Friday of this week! The IREAD3 (3rd grade only) test window will be the week of March 13th. Please make school attendance a priority! If you have a planned absence, call the school office at 547-9727 as soon as possible.

Although this test is very important, it is only one test. Our goal is for the students to do their "Personal Best." That is all we can expect. Please reinforce "Personal Best" at home. We will be giving the students additional "Personal Best" recess breaks each day if they truly work hard, stay on task, utilize the time, and do their very best.

IREAD3 Exemptions: Although it is true that 3rd grade students must pass IREAD3 to move on to 4th grade, understand that there is a second chance to pass it online this summer. Also, there are three exemptions outlined by the state:

1) Child has an IEP and committee decides it is best to move them on to 4th grade.

2) Child has already been retained twice.

3) Child speaks English as a Second Language (ESL).
