6th Grade Advanced Math

Students received their graded unit 3 math tests, and took time to fix simple errors they made on the test. Next week, I will be pulling groups to go over concepts that caused the students difficulty on the test. The students will also work on task 3 & 4 of the RWE. Before moving into our next unit, I will spend some time going over tape diagrams with the students. This skill will be on the PARCC test in April. We will begin our next math unit, which covers geometry concepts, when students return from break.

3rd/4th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)

Monday and Thursday this week the students wrote an extension to the story, The Invention of Hugo Cabret. It was fun to listen to their creative stories!

Our next unit covers, the exploration of other worlds! The students chose to first start exploring oceans! Next week we will begin with exploring ocean zones. The students will be completing a science experiment to learn about different ocean zones. I will post pictures of our experiment next week!

5th/6th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)

Due to other school events, DEB 5/6 students were only able to meet for DEB twice this week. We began reading the true story of Phineas Gage. The students and I have had some deep discussions about the story. They seem to be really enjoying the story and are asking a lot of questions. We will spend some time reading as a class, in partners, and in groups next week.
