Week 9 of Virtual Learning and Teaching
Fall weather has finally arrived! The weather has turned cooler and the leaves are changing colors. What a beautiful time of the year!
We are also getting into a rhythm with virtual learning and teaching! With a full nine weeks behind us, we plan to continue to move forward together. Comfort levels are growing each day. Thank you again for all of your support and questions during this time.
It's National School Bus Safety Week
The time has come! Kingsley ES is participating in the National School Bus Safety Week (NSBSW). Feel free to also participate in the national school bus safety week activities. There is a daily activity for each day this week. Share your photos via social media @GaCommute and use hashtags below. Also, attached is a QR code that will allow parents and students to upload their photos participating in NSBSW activities directly to GCS using your smart devices.

DCSD Intent to Return Form for Parents/Guardians
Please complete the DCSD Intent to Return Form for Parents/Guardians. You will have a choice of hybrid learning or distance/remote learning. The learning models for consideration are as follows:
Hybrid Learning Model (Combination of Face-to-Face and Distance/Remote Learning):
The hybrid learning model is designed for families who feel comfortable with returning their children to a face-to-face, in school environment blended with distance/remote learning. The amount of in person learning will begin with one day per week and transition to two days per week in the next phase. Students will have the opportunity to interact in person safely with their teachers and classmates.
Students and staff will be required to wear face coverings or masks. Also, students will be required to bring their district-issued or personal electronic devices to school.
Families may opt for the distance/remote learning model at any time by completing a Change of Intent to Return Form at the local school.
Distance/Remote Learning Model:
The distance/remote learning model is designed for families who do not feel comfortable with their children returning to school in a face-to-face format at this time. The students will continue learning from home in a virtual format provided by the school. Families will have the opportunity to transition to the current in-person learning model at each 4.5-week grading interval by completing a Change of Intent to Return Form at the local school.
Note: Local schools will modify the instructional schedule to best meet the needs of the students. Schools will implement a regular bell schedule, so classroom instructional time will increase for all students regardless of the learning model selected. Please note that your child’s teacher or class period may also change.
All families shall complete the Intent to Return Form by October 23, 2020. Prior to completing the form, please obtain your child’s student identification number (lunch number or Chromebook login number). If you do not have your child’s student identification number, visit Parent Portal, check your child’s recent progress report, or contact your child’s teacher. Thank you in advance for completing the Intent to Return Form for each child.
