Standards Based Reporting System...Resources
As you know, Central Bucks School District will be implementing a new Elementary Reporting System for the 2014-2015 school year. As we roll out the new reporting system, we want to continue to offer resources to help facilitate the transition for both students and families. Two new videos have been added to the Elementary Progress Report Information Page.
- "What is a Standard?" - a parent's guide to understanding standards
- "Understanding my Progress" - explaining how students grow and progress through the eyes of a student
We have also added an overview of achievement criteria to better understand what it means to exceed, meet , approach and make limited progress.
Gayman Gala Off To A Great Start!
Two years ago Mr. Testani introduced a new cafeteria incentive program to the Gayman students. Classes compete against each other in a monthly contest to earn a reward. Each class can earn a maximum of three points per day for:
- Keeping the noise level reduced.
- Appropriate behavior.
- Keeping the cafeteria clean.
The class to earn the most points earns a formal dining experience. We had a tie in September- congratulations to Mrs. Klebba's class and Mrs. Kunkel's class!

October Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.

Parents Advisory Council

Book Fair A Royal Success!!
Thank you to all the knights and ladies-in-waiting for making the book fair a royal success! The students entered the castle anxious to find the perfect book and left with a smile and a book after exploring the room.
In addiiton to the vast assortment of books, the students were challenged with a contest, "How many mints does it take to freshen a dragon's breath?" The students were shown a sample jar containing 20 mints, and then a full jar of mints which they needed to figure out how many mints were in the jar (211mints). Many students came close, with two students winning with a guess of 210 - Alicia Blair and Christian Asimakopoulos. Both students were presented with a gift certificate to the Doylestown Book Store. Congratualtions to Alicia and Christian!!
Stay tuned for details on our next event, the spring BOGO Book Fair.
Keep calm and read on!!
