Family Reading

We are very excited to announce the beginning of our family reading bingo. This project is to encourage students to not only read, but to read books in many different genre areas. All students will receive a bingo card. As students read books color in the bingo square, record the name of the title, and get a parent to initial. Each time a student completes a bingo (across, down, or diagonal), they will get ticket for the prize drawings in the library.

Students may play starting Monday, November 17th until Wednesday, January 6th. All cards/tickets must be turned into the library by January 6th.

The fall break is a perfect time to curl up with a good book! Enjoy reading and good luck!!

Wall of Thanks!

PTO with the help of our students created a beautiful wall of thanks. Each student had the opportunity to write on a leaf what they were thankful for.

I know we are very thankful for our Westside volunteers!

Fall Break

Students will be out for Fall Break starting on November 24th-28th. We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday.

We will have student birthday treats on the 21st before we dismiss. Check with teachers for official times.

Operation Gratitude

On Veterans day here at Westside, students wrote letters to deployed soldiers to thank them for their service. Our students did a great job writing the letters and I know they will make a soldiers day.

If you are a military family or have served in the past, we want to thank you for your service!! We appreciate all that you have done and do for us and our country.

Bookstore

We have opened a Westside Bookstore! In the bookstore we have items such as highlighters, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, and erasers. Items range in price from .50- $1.50. My favorite item is the iphone eraser!

The bookstore is open on the stage from 7:30-7:50 am.

Donation Station

We will be collecting several items over the next few months. Please help out where and when you can. We do not expect everyone to donate to everything, but we have the opportunity to do so if you choose.

Can Food Drive: The food drive will start on Wednesday the 5th and will end the 19th. The two classes who bring in the most items will win a pizza party. The donations will used for the Westside backpack for kids program and the other portion will be donated to Hope's Closet and Christmas Alliance.

Coat & Toy Drive: We will have a box in front of the office to collect new or gently used toys and coats. The items that are donated will be given to Christmas Alliance. Christmas Alliance provides food and toys for many Cabot, Austin, and Ward families.

Morning Drop Off

If teachers are not opening doors at the back car rider line in the mornings, please pull around to the front office and check your student in. We will stay out until the bell rings. We begin class at 7:50 am. Students are counted as tardy after the 8:00 am bell.
