Message from the Principal

Greetings Standing Bear Families,

WOW!! Take a minute to look at the totals for our Fun Run!! Standing Bear ROCKED this fundraiser! A huge THANK YOU to all who supported the event. Proceeds will be used to benefit Standing Bear students. The PTO will keep you informed on how the funds are used to support us this year! Also, a BIG thanks to Mr. Nelsen who was our Fun Run DJ!!

  • iPads- we have had an increased number of broken screens. Please remind your student to be careful with the district provided iPad and to make sure it is safely packed in their backpack. We appreciate your support!
  • Masks- please send your student in a mask and place an extra one in their backpack.
  • Early out, please call ahead so we can have your child ready for pick up!
  • Medical Absence: Please bring in a doctor note if your child is absent due to an appointment. This allows us to mark the absence as medical so it shows as an excused absence.

Have a great weekend!

Stay positive, patient and flexible!

Notes from the School Nurse

This is the time of year when the health office begins annual health screenings on all students. This will include height, weight, vision, hearing and dental with the assistance of UNMC nursing students. Parents will be notified in writing if further evaluation is indicated upon completion of screenings.

Healthy eyes, ears and teeth are an important part of the academic success of our Standing Bear students

Health & Safety

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Health and safety remain our priority. To assist us with our effort in keeping students, staff and families safe, we are asking you to conduct a daily health screening on your child(ren) every day prior to sending them to school.

Please assess and/or ask your child(ren) the following screening questions before sending them to school.

Does your child have one of the following?

  • New cough

  • New onset of shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

Does your child have two or more of the following?

  • Fever of 100.4 or greater

  • Chills

  • Muscle aches

  • Headache

  • Sore throat

  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

If you answer yes to the above questions, please do not send your child to school. Instead:

• Notify the school of your child's absence

  • Contact your child's health care provider to see if your child needs to be tested

  • Contact the school for further guidance

District Transportation Information

Parents should sign up for the Here Comes the Bus App as a way to keep in communication with pick up and drop off information.

Below is information to assist you with setting this up.

Important Information from Standing Bear

Building Security

For the safety and security of our students and this building, we are asking that any parent visitor make an appointment prior to entering the building. We will continue to limit outside visitors due to Health & Safety Protocols.

Drop Off Zone

We ask that you please continue to pull all the way down to the second crosswalk if possible (by main front doors). We can then unload around 10 vehicles rather than 5.

We currently have a school staff member assisting your child to breakfast or the classroom at the main doorway for all student’s morning arrival. REMINDER: School doors don’t open until 8:35 AM for classroom entrance and breakfast opening hours.

We ask again not arrive for end of school day pick-up until 3:55pm due to traffic flow congestion issues we’re currently experiencing due to early arrivals.

Please be attentive and cognizant of all school crossing guard officials and adhere to their requests during student morning drop-off and pick-up times. Our goal is to ensure your child’s overall safety.

School Messenger

We will be using the School Messenger (Robo call or email) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.

Birthday Celebrations

We ask that only non-food items be brought for birthday celebrations.
