Contest Dates
We are so excited that our bands will be participating in the FWISD Festival of Bands contest this April! We will be doing a professional recording session in the Paschal auditorium on the dates below.
Wind Ensemble: Monday, April 26 4:00-7:30 pm
Symphonic/Concert Band: Thursday, April 22 4:00-7:30 pm
We need ALL participating students to be present at the recording session. For virtual students who would like to attend, they must attend in person sectionals from now until the contest (4 sectionals) in order to perform with us.
Concert Band students must attend the Symphonic Band sectionals in order to perform with them.
We will be allowed to take any necessary chaperones on this trip with us. Please email Mrs. Chance at sarah.chance@fwisd.org if you are interested in chaperoning.
Concert Black Attire: Required for ALL STUDENTS
We will be wearing concert black attire for our recording session. This means all students will need a black dress shirt, black dress pants, and black dress shoes, as pictured above. If you have black dress clothing items that your student has outgrown, please consider donating it to band so we can build our Concert Attire Closet for students who need (or forget) their black clothes on performance day!
Below are some links to options on Amazon. Kohl's and Walmart also typically have some great options.
Students should upload a picture of their concert black clothes to the Google Classroom assignment by Wednesday, April 14. If you do not think you will be able to purchase these items, please let us know so we can help get your student items before the performance!
If you cannot purchase these dress items, the following are also acceptable:
Solid black t-shirt/polo
Black jeans
Solid black tennis shoes (no other colors)
**Leggings, skirts, dresses, or anything with other colors besides black are not acceptable**
Contest Update for Virtual Students
If you choose NOT to participate in contest, you will have a short playing test to record each week instead. These assignments will be posted in Google Classroom.
Spring Concert
Save the date: Thursday, June 3 (Time: TBD)
We have been approved to have a LIVE Spring Concert!!! We are so excited that parents and families will now get to see their students performing live for the first time this year!!!Currently the concert is scheduled to be outside at McLean, but we have booked an indoor space as a back up *just in case* we receive approval to move it indoors.
