Mrs.Schoettmer
My name is Jenni Schoettmer and I teach 5th grade at NDE! I am a lifelong resident of Decatur County. I graduated high school from South Decatur. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education through IUPU-Columbus in 2003. In 2008, I finished my Master’s Degree through Olivet Nazarene University. My husband is Travis and we have three children: Emma (16), Haylee (12), and Cooper (9). My kids keep me super busy running them to their sporting practices and events! Outside of school, I love boating with family and friends, vacationing (especially at the beach), reading, and watching my kids play sports. I have held many different positions in my 20 years as a teacher at NDE. My first position was working in the Title 1 department, I then moved around a bit teaching in grades 3, 4, and 5. My favorite part of being a teacher is getting to see the growth students make from the beginning to end of the year! I love teaching at North Decatur and being a part of this community!
Mrs. Allgeier
Hi NDES friends! My name is Kim Allgeier. I have been teaching for 23 years. I spent part of my career at SDES teaching 1st through 4th grade along with Title 1. Since I have been at NDES, I have been teaching 5th grade. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and my Master’s Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University. I have been married to my husband, Jim, for 24 years. We have 2 great boys, Justin (21) and Stephen (18). Justin is currently working at Crossman Fire and Safety and engaged to be married to Grace, my one and only daughter, in June 2023. Stephen is currently attending Taylor University majoring in Spanish and Global Studies. He hopes to study abroad while in college. When he’s home on breaks, he works at The Branch. In my free time, I enjoy vacationing with friends and family at the beach or in Tennessee. I hope to one day travel to all of the states in the United States. NDES has truly become my home away from home. I teach with amazing teachers who are not only colleagues, but very close friends; just like family. I am honored to teach at NDES!
Mrs. Hartman
Hello. My name is Susan Hartman. This is my 25th year of teaching. Twenty-three of these years at NDE. I received both my Bachelor’s Degree in Education and my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Ball State University. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. My husband, Mark, and I have 5 children, Adam, Jake, Abby, Grace, and Josie. The boys are grown, with Adam living in Lafayette and Jake in Indianapolis. Abby is a Sophomore at Depauw University studying business and communications. Grace is a Sophomore at Marian University studying nursing. Josie is a 6th grader at NDE who plays volleyball and loves raising her 4H goats. We live on a small farm where we raise a variety of animals depending on the time of year. Teaching is more than a job to me. It is part of who I am. In my opinion, there are few feelings better than watching students learn and grow. It is also so rewarding to be part of this community and watch Charger students go on to become so successful in their lives outside of school. In my extra time, I enjoy watching my children, participate in various sporting events. I also enjoy walking, reading, and traveling whenever possible. My favorite spot is the beach! I am proud to be a North Decatur Charger!
