What We Are Learning This Week
Language Arts: This week,we will be reading Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch by Eileen Spinelli. We will be wrapping up our middle of the year assessments and focusing on reading comprehension and character connections. In spelling this week, we will be looking at words with dipthongs ou, ow, oi, and oy. We will have our spelling test on Friday, February 12th .
Social Studies: We will continue our unit on geography. Students will be split into groups within each class to study and create a google presentation on different continents.
Math: Students will continue to model, create, and describe contextual multiplication situations in which sets of objects are joined. This week, students will be introduced to the concept of modeling, creating, and describing contextual division situations in which a set of objects is separated into sets.
Science: In science this week, students will wrap up their Earth Science projects and present them to their classmates. They will self-assess and reflect on their own learning throughout this project.
Google Presentations
We have started using Google Presentations in class this week. Here is the video that we have used to guide us through making a presentation made by our very own Mrs. Yolanda Williams! If your child would like to log in to google presentation at home to show you their work, this video is VERY user friendly and shows you step by step to log in and create a presentation!
Earbuds Needed!
As we are working on our middle of the year assessments, it is vital that each student has a pair of ear buds to keep at school. It makes it very difficult for students to concentrate and stay on task when he/she does not have their own pair of earbuds. They are very cheap and you can find them at The Dollar Tree or in the dollar spot at Target. Please send these in ASAP!
Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Trueblood on receiving the Red & Black Superstar Award at Friday's Rise & Shine! Also, a big shout out to our awesome 2nd grade emcees!
Save The Date!
It's time to celebrate Valentine's Day with our 2nd grade classes! Our class party will be on Friday, February 12th from 12:50-1:50 in our classroom. After the party, our kids will go to PE/Runner's Club or you can check your child out from the front office. Our room parents have worked hard to put together a fun party.
On the morning of the party, we will be exchanging valentine cards and we will need a special place to put them! Please have your child bring in a decorated (handmade, recycled or store bought is fine!) bag or box to hold their valentines. Please make sure your child has an opening in his/her bag or box big enough to fit small cards/trinkets. Your child is also welcome to bring in valentines for each student in our class. If you have any questions at all, please just let me know! Thank you so much!
