Week 11 Easter Term Friday 27th March 2015
OUR LEARNING JOURNEY FOR THE EASTER TERM
During this term we have covered the units 'Electricity' and 'Habitats'. The children enjoyed making circuits including an electronic board game and in the unit Habitats, and the overnight camp at the zoo was the highlight for most of the children. After the Easter break, we will be spending our last week on the unit with an Exit Point to the aquarium.
During this term, the children immersed themselves in learning the craft of informational "How-To" Books. They thought about how each step should be explained clearly so that their reader could re-create what they were teaching someone how to do. Our Unit of Study on Poetry: Powerful Thoughts in Tiny Packages helped the children learn how to look at words, objects and life through a poet's eye.
This term the children have covered the concepts of length, mass, data handling and money. This year the focus for Maths Week was data handling and the children had lots of opportunities to participate in completing interactive graphs. One and two-step word problems continued throughout the units.
