Welcome To 2022!!!
Happy New Year Trix Academy Family
Welcome back Trix Academy Families and welcome to 2022!! We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday break. I am so excited about the New Year and all of the great learning opportunities we have for our scholars in 2022.
We have been working diligently over break to ensure our building has been cleaned and sanitized thoroughly in order to receive our scholars Monday, January 3, 2022. We are also staying well informed on the status of Covid cases in Wayne County. We ask parents to work with us as we make decisions that are best for scholar learning. This is a constantly changing situation and we will make changes and decisions as needed. We want to ensure all scholars and staff are safe everyday so please monitor your scholars daily and do not send any scholar to school if they are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, chills, headaches, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, etc. Please review our Trix Academy: Re-OPening Safely for school safety reminders.
Winter is upon us and so is the snow. Please make sure we have your updated contact information to ensure you receive our school wide ROBO Calls for any school closures as well as watch your local news outlets for updates.
Lastly, I am so happy to be a part of the Trix Academy Family. Please watch my Principal Perkins Family Message. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you all throughout the school year.
Have a great week!!
Ms. Perkins
Principal
Morning Reminders
Attendance Matters!!!

If your child has to miss school, please call the office (313) 426-1020 to report their absence.
Scholars who are absent for 10 consecutive days without notification may be dropped from Trix Academy.
Starting January 3, 2021, all scholars with perfect attendance for the entire week will be entered into a raffle that will take place during Student of the Month celebration assemblies. Prizes will include tablets, bicycles, Beats headphones and much more!
As a reminder, school starts at 8:30 AM and dismissal is from 3:30-3:45 PM.
Keeping Your Child Safe Walking Home from School or A Friend’s House
1. Teaching your Child to Recognize Danger - Dangers include an unleashed dog who can potentially bite a frightened child. A broken footpath is quite dangerous because the neglected repair can lead to a serious sidewalk injury. Strangers, either walking or following by car, represent a serious potential danger for children, especially for those who have not been taught about stranger danger.
2. The buddy system - is a strategy where two children operate as a single entity: simultaneously reaching for the same objective. The strategy is primarily used to reduce risk; each buddy has a separate job to do to be successful.
3. Rules - Slowly introduce your safety rules to your child before they begin walking alone.
· Select a safe route to follow, walk it many times with them
· Point out landmarks or homes of family and friends, quiz your child’s knowledge while walking the route
· Always use crosswalks and sidewalks
· Look both ways when crossing a street
· Always follow traffic signals
· If your child has a mobile phone, teach him or her how to place an emergency call for help (Type in your name and contact information in your child’s phone)
