"Amy"able Words

Sisters and Brothers:

Grace and Peace to you! Our church children enjoyed a great time with Compassion Camp last week, and I hope you enjoy seeing the photos! Thanks for our prayers!

The Big News for this week is our next episode of Mission Mondays as we begin collecting supplies for troops who are in quarantine right now. Our local USO connection tells us that 900 troops or more are in quarantine right now and could use some encouragement. The following items have been requested: board games, note pads for keeping score, books, feminine hygiene products. Our collection of these items will be ongoing, and the first round of donations will be made this week, this afternoon. If you would like to donate items, please call (915) 474-3968 or (915) 772-2734 to arrange for delivery or pickup. Thank you for supporting our troops!

Brief Reminder: Our Church Council has announced benchmarks to guide us toward a return to in-person worship. You may find those benchmarks and newly released protocols and safety measures at this link: https://bit.ly/spumcbenchmarksandprotocols

Our conference provost, Rev. Dr. Randall Partin, has shared some additional pastoral considerations in his recent letter as we determine “how much risk for exposure, illness, and possibly even death we are willing to take on in order to gather together in our buildings for worship and ministry” in our context. You may find the full text of that letter here: https://bit.ly/nmumcjulyprovostletter

It is a pleasure to grow and serve with you, and your church leaders and I are constantly looking for and creating new ways to connect, so stay tuned! As always, if you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please call me at (325) 660-5017.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Amy

New "Hold the Date" for NM Annual Conference 2020

It is becoming increasingly unlikely that an on-site gathering of the New Mexico Annual Conference will take place in Roswell in August. Restrictions on large gatherings continue and are likely to remain in effect for a while.

As the meeting in Roswell in August was already our “Plan B” for this year’s Annual Conference, we are working to be nimble, flexible, and creative in the midst of great uncertainty and are shifting to “Plan C.” Therefore, please hold the dates of October 16-17 for the 2020 Session of The New Mexico Annual Conference. A decision about whether the session will be an on-site gathering or virtual/online will be made later, well in advance of the October dates.
