TCS will close for Spring Break March 16-20
The start of Spring Break is five days away for the Tuscaloosa City Schools. For those families who may be traveling abroad, TCS will implement the guidance recommended by the Alabama Department of Public Health regarding travel from countries considered “Level 3” in light of the novel coronavirus transmission.
If your travel plans include traveling to countries deemed with Level 3 status, please inform your child’s principal. This information is necessary so that TCS may take precautions to protect the health and safety of the entire school population.
If a TCS student or staff member travels to a Level 3 area, they must be excluded from school for the duration of the 14-day monitoring period. Guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health recommends these individuals self-monitor for 14 days after leaving the affected area. Students and staff should notify their principal, if applicable, to let them know they are self-monitoring for COVID-19.
If a TCS student or staff member travels to a Level 2 area, they should limit their interaction with others as much as possible, but are not restricted from public places, including schools, as long as they remain asymptomatic.
Because this is a quickly-evolving situation, TCS is committed to transparent practices with families. Please continue to monitor the CDC website for changes among the travel tiers classification.
