A word from Mr Broom.

We've had another wonderful week of learning in school as this half term moves into full swing.

On Monday, the minute's silence was impeccably observed throughout school; a very proud moment. Our teachers had their new curriculum and tracking system training on Tuesday with one of the country's leading education specialists and we'll be updating parents/carers on the changes taking place in the new year, once we have our heads around the system.

Our Football Club was back in full flow yesterday afternoon, with 26 'hard core' footballers braving the cold for a kick about.

Finally, thank you to everyone who donated to the Children in Need appeal. We had a super 'spotty' day.

Have a lovely weekend.

It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate, we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!

Congratulations to our Year 3 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 98%.

As you can see below, our attendance in some classes is above the national average which is fantastic. Thank you for your support on this.

The overall attendance this week fell to 95.5% and is the second time we've been below the national average this year. Let's hope to bounce back next week!

Operation Christmas Child - Shoebox Appeal

A massive thank you to the children who took part in this year's Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal. Children in other parts of the world will now receive their wonderful gift boxes in time for Christmas. We have some very thoughtful children and families at SHCPS. Hopefully next year, we'll start the appeal earlier so that more people can get involved.

Parking Concerns

While we realise that drop-off and pick-up times are a busy period of the day, it's important that we abide by the highway code. I am aware that local residents and neighbours are reporting parking which occurs on the yellow zig-zag lines and inappropriate parking on footpaths, corners and the blocking of drives. Please use the Co-op carpark wherever possible or please ensure that you park with consideration of others. Thank you.

ParentView Survey

You may or may not be aware that the government use a website called ParentView to gather the opinions of parents/carers when inspecting schools. Please help us by completing the online survey. It takes about five minutes to do and will help us to further improve as well as celebrate the things we are doing well.

Please click here to access the ParentView survey.

Glasses a must for those needing them

If your child needs glasses to read or access learning, it's important that you ensure that they bring them to school and wear them. Without being able to see properly, their learning can be limited. Thank you.
