Mrs. Turner's September News
Welcome Back
Science City: Battle of the Brains

During the month of September, students will be work on exhibit idea proposals. We can't wait to see what great ideas are developed!
Daily Schedule
PEAK Curriculum
THEME
Students will identify and research a problem facing our world. We will spend a few weeks building background knowledge so students can see the different problems facing our world (clean water crisis, poverty, bee extinction, etc.). This would be a great topic to discuss as a family. What problems do you see facing our world? Students will not only research a problem but also raise awareness on the issue through a variety of ways.In September, we will review how to find reliable resources for research and how to take good notes.
PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Thank you so much for filling out our blue survey! If you have not returned it yet, we would love to have it as soon as possible!
MATH
This year, we are offering more choice and voice in math! To start the year, students chose to participate in one of 3 groups: Shopping Spree, Place Value Enrichment (Base Number systems), or math competition. We'll continue our work in these groups throughout the next few months before moving on to additional choices. The engagement in math has been spectacular!
CREATIVITY:
Students will use FFOE (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration) as a creative thinking strategy while participating in Battle of the Brains.
