Jefferson Journal
February 11th Edition
Return to School Update
Due to our improving community health - and our hope that all staff will be vaccinated in coming weeks and months, the District will return to offering 100% in-person instruction in our schools starting on Monday, March 8. Families who prefer to remain in 100% distance learning at home may elect to do so, but the model is changing.
Safety protocols will remain in place at school. The district will continue to require students and staff to properly wear masks in school through the end of this school year, and all efforts will be made to ensure social distancing where possible in our buildings.
MPSD Communication Timeline
At 10:00 am on Friday, February 12th, Jefferson families will receive a communication from MPSD elementary principals explaining the two model choices: full-day in-person learning and full-day blended learning. We hope that this information will help your family make the best choice for your child(ren).
At 4:00 pm on Friday, February 12th, MPSD families will receive district communication that asks parents to select the learning model for their child(ren) for this switch in models. This Google Form must be completed by all families no later than 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17th.
If you have any questions as your family makes this choice, please feel free to email Mrs. DeArmond at dearmondc@mpsd.school.

Update From Your School Counselors
Attention Kindergarten Parents--From Your School Counselors
during Life Skills class. The unit is about protective behaviors. This
until consists of 3 main topics:
Personal Safety. Students will learn important safety rules, such as
safety with guns, sharp tools, and fire, and when riding on bikes or
in cars. They will also learn ways to help them decide if something is
safe or not.
Touching Safety. Students will learn about safe, unsafe, and unwanted
touches, and rules about touching private body parts. They will also
learn to say no to unsafe or unwanted touches, and to tell an adult if
someone breaks rules about touching private body parts.
Assertiveness. These lessons will also give students a chance to
practice asking an adult for help, telling an adult about an unsafe
situation, and being assertive to get out of unsafe situations.
The first two weeks will be spent on Personal Safety, followed by 2
weeks of Touching Safety and then ending with 2 weeks of practicing
and reviewing safety.
If you have any questions or concerns at all, please feel free to
reach out to your child's Lifeskills teacher and school counselor,
Tiffani Schley, at (920)663-9392 or schleyt@mpsd.school. Also, look
for a letter that came home with your child earlier this week on this
topic.

A Message From the Principal
SAVE THE DATE--PICTURE DAY!
Picture Day Covid Changes:
On Picture Day, students and staff that have their picture taken will no longer receive an order form. They will receive a sheet of paper with their proof options printed on it providing instructions for them to order online. Again, this is strictly in an effort to eliminate paper exchanging hands between households, schools, and our lab. If parents are unable to order online, we will provide them information to call our studio for alternative ordering options.
