Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
"Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
This week’s quote is brought to us by our 7th & 8th grade social studies teacher, Mrs. Lockett. In education, we continually reflect on our “why.” Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us of our why with this quote. Yes, our goal is to educate to students and improve their abilities, but our Senator staff also works every day to build on our Senators character, taking every opportunity to teach and reinforce the skills they learned at home.
This year, our Senator staff worked diligently and tirelessly to address students that were underachieving in the areas of Math and Reading. We began the year by developing an intervention program for students to help them improve and grow their skills. When the scores came back with an overwhelming number of those students showing growth, our staff looked at it and said, “Why don’t we do this for all students?” We got to work and developed a school-wide math program for students to work on two days a week. Our Senator students have also embraced this program and work hard during their Senator Support Period to improve their abilities. We teach students the content and we teach them to continuously improve their abilities no matter what level they are.
Character is so important in every person. Character is taught, developed, nurtured, and retaught. We know that our Senators are being taught about their character at home and we reinforce those traits at school. We work with our Senators every day on being kind, respectful, and responsible. It is in all the moments, big and little, that our Senators develop their character. We hope they make the right choices with the tools we have all given them, but when they do not, we reteach and continue to nurture that character we know exists in them. Education is a collaborative effort. Every day we are reminded of this collaboration and we thank you all for your support.
As always, if you have any additional questions, call the main office (630) 719-5815 between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday - Friday.
Have a great weekend!

Overdue Library materials
However, with the end of the year fast approaching, please be aware that if your student does have long overdue materials, there will be a charge to replace them if the books are not returned. We would much rather have the books back, than to charge for their replacement.
We will be emailing you in the next 2 weeks if your student has long overdue materials.
