Werner's Weekly News
Week of April 11th
We're Learning...
We have been reviewing since we returned from spring break. We have revisited time, money, spelling patterns with short and long vowels, correcting sentences, shapes, reading strategies and more. We also learned about synonyms and antonyms and how we can use synonyms in writing to make our pieces more interesting.
Our focus quote: "Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud." -Maya Angelou
We will be studying plants and Earth Day over the next 2 weeks.
PBL Update: We received a grant to plant 2 trees on Eagle's playground in the fall. Our project was on hold due to the cold winter weather. We will be planting the trees before the end of the year. More info to come!
NWEA
We will be taking our final round of NWEA this week. Our class will be taking the math portion on Tuesday and Wednesday and the reading portion on Thursday and Friday. We will be testing first thing in the morning from 9:15-10:05.
One Book, One School
We will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl for our One Book, One School program this year. Your child will receive their own personal copy of the book that they may read at home. I will also be reading the book aloud at school. The whole school will be reading the book and we will have special activities to go along with it throughout the remainder of the year.
