Visual Arts Student Submits Original Work to Dali Museum
Kresly Jeantinoble, 9th grade visual arts student, recently submitted "De Kaff" to the Dali Museum student art exhibit. You can read his artist statement below. Be sure to take a look at "De Kaff" and some of his other artwork.
Artist Statement: What inspires me is that the ability I was born with is a gift. Watching shows that involve drawings, animation, etc. also inspires me. In general, most of my artwork is important to me because it pushes me to do something far greater than my expectations, and it teaches me to fail, and each drawing deals with a theme or inspiration, or both.
As I spent time drawing and drawing, I made mistakes (plenty of mistakes) but as I made those errors, I also learned that no one, no art, or anything is perfect. Everything is imperfect. What makes my drawing surreal is using imagination and taking little pieces of the world and connecting them in a bizarre way. What do my viewers think of my drawing? Well, they seem surprised and wonder often if I copy or trace them, which I do not.
