9th Grade Honors Applications
English Teachers:
Please take a minute in each of your classes to offer applications to students that are interested in the Advanced English 9 classes in the fall.
If they take one, remind them that they need to fill it out, give the recommendation form to you, and to submit the application by the due date provided. No late applications will be accepted.
If students ask, let them know that the advanced course requires summer and winter break assignments, more reading at home, more essay writing, and faster pacing as compared to the college prep courses.
When students give you the recommendation form, please fill out and do not return to the student. Submit all paperwork to your front office by the due dates provided, so that an administrator from EUHS can pick up everything by February 15th.

Monarch Madness
EUHS is planning their 8th grade Monarch Madness day on Friday, March 17th from 9am to noon. 8th grade students will be bussed to the high school for Monarch Madness! During this field trip, students will have an opportunity to tour the Ag Farm, learn about the high school registration process, and be part of a high school Pep Rally. 8th grade teachers will be attending this event with students. More details and the SOP to come.
Registration forms will be distributed to students at this time. All forms are due March 23rd and can be turned in to the Wilson or the EUHS office.
EUHS will also be hosting Future Monarch Night on Wednesday, March 22nd at 6pm in the Auditorium. At this event, students and parents will be able to meet with the Assistant Principals, turn in your registration forms, meet with teachers, sign up for clubs and sports.
Summer Planning
It is already that time of year to start budgeting and planning for summer. If your grade level or department would like to request time to plan this summer, I need to email your planning proposal to Donya by Wednesday, February 15th. The district will not be providing release time for curriculum or assessment development during the 17-18 school year as they are prioritizing teachers in classrooms and decreasing sub time. The only exception being for any new grade level trainings such as potentially elementary NGSS and K-12 Social Studies due to the new framework.
Per District, we need to ensure that all pacing guides and assessments (formative and summative) to be administered during the 17-18 school year are developed prior to July 15.
The following needs to be addressed in summer work proposals:
1) What will be accomplished? (This must be a detailed plan. For example, if assessments need to be created, please explain which assessments and when they will be administered)
2) Who will participate in the planning?
3) What exact days will the planning take place?
4) Where will the planning take place?
Please turn in your proposals by Tuesday, February 12th, so that I can review them prior to sending them on to Donya.
Thanks!
