Principals Message:
We had an outstanding start to the school year and Trimester 1, and with the opening of Trimester 2 on Monday, December 4th, there are even more great learning experiences to look forward to. We are eager to continue to embrace our mission of helping each student demonstrate high academic standards in an equitable, supportive school culture and graduate college and career ready as we start our new Trimester, which can only happen with everyone's support. It is going to be a great Trimester 2 and winter season. Make sure to Check Student Vue/Parent Vue for your Trimester 2 classes and see below in this CHS Weekly Message for your assigned lunch based on your 3rd Period Class.
Also, thanks to everyone who cheered on our Centennial Winter Sports teams, as our CHS teams did a great job at their first meets and games this week. Seeing our Winter sports teams off to such a great start was exciting. There are many more exciting games and what is sure to be an outstanding CHS Winter Band/Choir Concert coming in two weeks. So come out and show your school spirit by attending a CHS event this week and supporting our Eagles.
Finally, you may notice that our CHS Art students have put up some awesome tape sculptures around the school. Please reminder that they have taken a lot of time to make these sculptures and to please respect them by not touching them and enjoying them. They are outstanding! Art Rocks at CHS!

High school is a very challenging period of time for many students. Concepts of subjects become harder, the workload increases. With these changes, many students can experience difficulties in school. This doesn’t happen overnight. For a student, failing school is a progression of missed assignments, skipped classes and failed tests. As a parent, it’s very important for you to timely address the problem and get your child back on track before he or she gets completely behind.
Some tips on how your child can succeed in high school: Be proactive; Use online ParentVue; Make an appointment with counselor/teacher to identify the problem. CHS offers free of charge peer/adult tutoring (SUN program) 4 days a week after school. Our teachers may provide before or after school extra help to students (need to set the time in advance with teachers).
IRCO Free Interpreting Service: Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) is one of our valued CHS/CSD community partners and has a Community Help Line that is free for anyone in our community that needs support for specific translation services. Here is a message for IRCO
IRCO is here to help our LEP (Limited English Proficiency) community. If you need help navigating your Language or have questions or need support filling out forms for benefits such as unemployment benefits, Food Stamps, Medical Insurance, rental assistance, work search assistance, Long Car Benefits for the elderly or people with disabilities, please contact IRCO at 503-606-6969 OPEN Mon-Friday 10 AM-5 PM.

Renaissance Star Math and ELA Assessment Results Mailed Home with Report Card. Included with the Trimester 1 Report Cards being sent home this week are student Renaissance Star Math and ELA assessment results. CHS Students will take the STAR Math and ELA Assessment three times this year through their Advisory classes. We use the results of these assessments to measure general achievement in reading and math and to determine individual student learning needs. As students take the assessment over the year, it will also show student learning growth and identify skills they can work on to improve their learning. It is essential to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how a student is doing in school. You can Scan the QR Code or see https://www.renaissance.com/star-scores/ for more general information. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your student's teacher.
CHS School Reports to the Centennial School Board - CHS Highlights Programs and Student Success
Another recent highlight was the Centennial High School Report to the Centennial School Board of Directors on November 8, 2023. School reports to the Board had been in abeyance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before this, school reports had been a long-standing component of Board meetings, intended to inform the Board of the work and focus of Centennial schools in alignment with the District’s Strategic priorities.
Through the report facilitated by Principal Marin Miller, the Board heard from students and staff about various programs and topics at CHS, including Performing Arts, Culinary Arts, Student Store, Trades, Reading Support, and Social-Emotional Safety.
You can view the CHS Report by clicking here or the direct link below.
Reports from each Centennial school are scheduled throughout the year, the next being Oliver Middle School at the December 13, 2023 School Board meeting. I encourage you to tune in and learn more about the exciting things happening at Centennial’s newest school!

ParentSquare will become Centennial's Official District Communication Jan. 2024. Centennial School District is excited to fully implement ParentSquare - our official centralized District communication platform. The District Remind messaging application will sunset Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 and we encourage all our families to register and connect with us via ParentSquare.
ParentSquare will serve as our District messaging platform, which offers an array of digital communication tools, including email, text, phone messaging, forms and much more. Almost all Centennial families have already registered to ParentSquare – placing us at a 96% contactable rate of our families.
Using this platform streamlines District messaging to a single source for our community. Ensuring reliable communication channels is important for our community, and we want our families to know they can count on us to provide them with the tools needed to stay connected with content that relates to them and is easy to use.
Check out the ParentSquare video tutorial below. We also encourage families to update their contact information in Synergy to ensure you have your name, phone number, address, emails and home language updated.
Reminder:
