Parent Council Update - WE NEED YOU!
Our Parent Council is an active organization comprised of parents and staff who volunteer their time supporting the goals and needs of our school and students. Our key mission is to promote an environment at our school that enables staff to do their best work and children to do their best learning. The Parent Council provides input on key elements of school life and offers community-building activities and events that support relationship building and increased parent engagement at our school. At Southview, we want to be inclusive and offer a welcoming climate so families are excited to participate, feel comfortable and well informed about school and council events.
If you are interested in running for a position on Council, nomination forms are below, along with a description of positions needed for our Council. Any parent/guardian is welcome to attend any meeting througout the school year without being on the Council. Meeting dates for the year will be posted after our first meeting so that you can book your calendar. Childcare is provided. We can't wait to see you!
Volunteers:
Throughout the year there will be many opportunities for parents/guardians to volunteer at the school. Parents/Guardians who wish to volunteer at the school or supervise on field trips must have a criminal record check (CPIC) on file as per LDSB policy. CPICs need to be updated every three years. During interim years, volunteers will be required to complete an Offence Declaration. Please contact the front office for more information.
