Corinth is a city in Peloponnese, Greece. It is also the capital of Corinthia and the king and queen of Corinth are Oedipus' adoptive parents.

The Oracle of Apollo is also know as the Oracle at Delphi.

Sophocles
Sophocles is one of the three famous Greek tragedians who's plays have actually lasted. He was born in Colonus, Attica in 497 B.C.
Laius
Laius is the great grandson of Cadmus. He receives a prediction from The Oracle of Apollo that his son is going to kill him.
Jocasta
Jocasta is the wife of Laius. They both agree to give away their son to a servant for him to be murdered because of the prediction.
Sphinx
The Sphinx is a winged monster with the head of a woman and the body of a lion.
Antigone & Ismene
Antigone and Ismene are the two daughters of Oedipus and Jocasta.
Eteocles & Polynices
Eteocles and Polynices are the sons of Oedipus and Jocasta.
King Polybus
The servant was to kind to kill the baby and ended up giving it to King Polybus. The king then became the adoptive father of the infant.
Queen Merope
Queen Merope is the wife of King Polybus and the queen of Corinth. She also became an adoptive parent of the infant.
Oedipus
Oedipus is the infant that was suppose to be killed but was given to the king and queen of Corinth. As the story continues the Sphinx attacks the city and kills anyone who cannot solve her riddle, Oedipus is the only person who can solve it. Oedipus' reward for answering the riddle is that he gets to marry Jocasta. However, he does not know that she is his mother but they have a happy marriage with 4 kids. Oedipus also has no idea that he has killed his father at a crossroad.
Creon
Creon is Oedipus' brother-in-law. He is sent by Oedipus to find out what to do about the plague breaking out in the city.
