Principals' Message

Hello Rockledge Families,

Wow, we cannot believe that it is December already! We have almost completed a full four months of school.

It continues to be exciting everyday at the Rock while we bring a little more of school normalcy to the forefront. We just finished our Literacy Spirit Week where each morning your children participated in live morning announcements via Zoom. During this time they had a chance to have live readings of some of their teachers' favorite books. It was great seeing everyone come through the Book Fair last week, kids were excited about their new literary finds.

In the coming weeks your child will begin bringing their laptop back and forth from school to home. This is so your child can continue to practice skills learned at school by going on Lexia, Dreambox, and other programs. We will need your support in encouraging your child to be responsible by charging their laptops and bringing them back to school each day.

Thank you for an amazing start to the school year. We appreciate the partnership and commitment that you all give the Rockledge community. We hope that your families have a wonderful break and have an opportunity to disconnect from some of the hustle and bustle of life. If you are celebrating or will celebrate any of the winter holidays, we wish you a wonderful holiday season. Happy New Year and we will see you in 2022!

Your Principal & Assistant Principal,

Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman

Mrs. Everett

Instruction & Assessment Updates

In Search of Math & Reading Tutors

In order to support PWCS' strategic focus of Learning and Achievement for All, Rockledge is looking for math and reading tutors. In January, we will be adding to our instructional program a component of high dosage tutoring during the school day. These small group tutoring opportunities will support students through targeted instruction, as identified by teachers.

If you are interested in applying to be a tutor for Rockledge please reach out to Principal Steptoe-Coleman at, to further discuss the opportunity.

With winter break upon us, there will be lots of days to fill with kids. One fun adventure can be to have your child sign up for their first library card.

Help your child grow his/her love of reading, grab a good book and read together.
