Sports T-shirts and Hoodies for Sale

We are pleased to let you know that sports t-shirts with our new school logo are ready to buy. If your child plays a sport for the school please order one of these t-shirts to wear as the school can no longer provide t-shirts to all the sports teams who represent our school. Orders can be made directly with the supplier so can be available on Kindo. Please order directly from the supplier at 'the Paparangi School Club Shop'.

Thanks to everyone who has ordered a hoodie so far. These orders close on Monday 24 May. More orders will be taken later in the term, so don't worry if you're not placing an order this time. You won't miss out!

A special thank you to the generous families who have donated a hoodie for another child. So far we have donations for seven more hoodies! There is an option on Kindo to donate a hoodie for another child or please talk to the office if you would like to make a contribution in this way.

Whole School Cross Country

On Friday last week the children of Paparangi School ran their school cross country. Luckily the weather put on a good show for us. The students sat around the bank in front of Uenuku and cheered as the other year groups ran their races! It was awesome to see the students showing great Grit and Others as they ran the best they could and encouraged their peers. Each year group ran a slightly different race, with the length of the race increasing with the year levels. Congratulations to the following students who came in the top 5 for each year level.

Friendship Week

What a fabulous week we've had with a big focus through out the school for Friendship Week. Classes have explored ways to be a good friend and we've recognised students being kind to others. Today there was pink wherever you looked, as we took part in Pink Shirt Day. Congratulations to the Y6 leaders who organised and ran friendship themed activities this week. We’re proud of the way you demonstrated our values of grit, respect, others and wonder as you encouraged classmates and younger students to be a good friend.

Home and School Committee News

The Home and School Committee has had a few changes in specific roles this term. David is our outgoing Chairperson, who has dedicated over 18 months to running the committee through some of the most difficult times we have had. We would like to thank David Chapman-Taylor for all his time and hard work. Thank you to Nida Shaikh, who has also stepped down from the role of secretary, for her contributions to the group. Both David and Nida will continue to be valued members of the committee. Stepping into the role of Chairperson is Nicola Jones, Katie Palmer is taking over as Secretary and Josh Jardine is now Treasurer. Along with existing committee members we are looking forward to planning future fundraising events.

If you have any ideas or thoughts for the Home and School Committee please feel free to approach the committee with your ideas. Additionally if you wish to join the committee, we are always looking for new members. Our contact email is

This term the focus is to raise money for a Friendship Seat. The friendship seat is a place where children in the playground who are feeling lonely or sad can sit in the seat to make new friendships. If the pupil is sitting on the seat, this will indicate to teachers and other pupils how they are feeling. It is hoped children will acknowledge and approach the pupil in the seat, to make sure they are all right and ask them to play. This idea was suggested by the junior children.

Our upcoming fundraising events include the Paparangi School Hoodie Fundraiser, a 'Dough-Raiser' through Domino's Pizza on 3rd June and a Disco on 25 June. We also have a few other extras planned for this term - further information to follow.

New Entrant Parents Evening

On Tuesday 25th May we are holding our New Entrant Parents Evening at 6pm. If your child has started school but you have not attended one of these meetings you are warmly invited to attend, alongside any parents of children who will be starting at Paparangi School this year. The next parent evening is held in November.

Out of Zone Enrolments for July-December close soon

A reminder that if you live outside of the school’s home zone and would like to enrol your child at Paparangi School during terms three and four, you must submit an enrolment application by Friday 28 May. We know that some families who live out of zone have younger siblings turning 5 soon. Please talk to the office staff if you have any questions about our enrolment scheme.

If your family lives in our school home-zone and has a five year old due to start school later this year or in 2022 please let the office know if you intend to enrol them at Paparangi School. This helps with future planning and staffing.

Paparangi is a 'Water Only’ School

Did you know our school is a ‘water only’ school? We encourage families to support their own health and that of our tamariki by:

  • Give your child a clear drink bottle to take to school (that is see through).

  • Fill drink bottles with plain tap water only.

  • Save other sugary drinks for ‘treats’ at home.

  • Be a positive role model and drink water too.

  • Provide water only drinks for sports tournaments.

  • No sweets, juice or fizzy drinks at school.

Dances for Schools

The Dance for Schools programme begins at the end of the month. A reminder notice with information about cost and the performance for parents is attached here and will be sent home next week. ‘Dances For Schools’ is a curriculum based dance programme in which children develop social skills through the enjoyment of dance. Over two weeks all students, along with their classmates, take part in daily sessions led by experienced dance instructors.
