A peek at our learning this week...
Can you believe it is the middle of November ALREADY?
This week our class will be focusing on the rules they follow at home and in school. Children also will be reading stories about the laws people follow in their neighborhoods and communities.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
Word Workout
- Vocabulary: cooperate, rules Make a chart of the rules your child follows. Encourage your child to think about the ways we cooperate, or work together with others.
- My Words to Know
High-Frequency Word: to Fill a small pan with shaving cream. Have your child write the word to in the shaving cream each time you use the word to in a sentence.
Category Words: action words Encourage your child to think of laws and rules to follow at home, at school, and in the community.
Phonics: i Help your child think of words that include the letter i, such as ink, pin, inch, if, sit, hid, and in. Write the words on paper. Then ask your child to underline the letter i in each word.
In Math, we will continue our unit on shapes!
We are so proud of our learners!!

Reading Logs:
Great job reading with your child!
Our classroom is filling up with clothes that have no home! Please LABEL EVERYTHING!! If your child is missing sweatshirts or lunch boxes, please let me know.
Thank you!!
Notes from Mrs. Maillet
As you know the seasons are changing and the temperatures are cooling off. I realized that the extra set of clothes that I have in class are mostly summer/fall clothes that need an update. I will send home the baggies of the change of clothes we had for your child on Monday, please replace the clothes with warmer clothes. Please make sure to add a complete set of clothes! Thank you!
Notes from Miss Berube
If you plan on ordering books from schoolastic, the orders are due Friday, November 9th.
Remeber to send in warm clothes for recess as the weather is definitely getting cooler. It is also helpful when you label your child's clothing.
Classroom wish list:
Dry erase markers
Tissues
Thank you for all you do! Have a great week!
Notes from Mrs. Webb
We had a great week learning all about shapes and bugs! Does it get any better?!
Please continue to practice letter names and letter sounds at home. I sent home a new fluency game page last week. Just roll the dice and ask your child to name the letter or sound of the letter as quickly as he/she can with accuracy. I have seen such a great increase in the children's letter recognition and in their fluency!
Please also review sight words at home whenever you can. The words we have learned so far are LIKE, CAN, WE, A, I, TO, SEE, THE.
Thank you for the updated change of clothes. I have asked the children to put their earlier kindergarten clothes in their backpack when they bring in the new change of clothes. If you sent in a new change of clothes but did not receive the others back just let me know.
Scholastic book orders are due on Friday, November 9th.
Reminder...there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans' Day.
WISH LIST:
dry-erase markers (black is fine)
antibacerial soap (individual size pumps or refill size is appreciated)
Thank you! Have great week!
Notes from Mrs. Marcoux
Hello,
I hope you are enjoying the sunny (finally!) weekend. We assessed the children last week on our first math unit, your children did so well! I am so proud of them. We began a new unit last week learning all about shapes. This is a short but fun unit.
Thank you for the book orders and for the supplies that were sent in this week. It is a huge help!
Please remember to send in warm clothing for the cold days, we like to have outdoor recess as much as possible and want your children to be comfortable. We also ask that you label the clothing as many children have the same items.
Have fun disguising your turkey, I can’t wait to see what the kids come up with.
Mrs. Marcoux
Notes from Mrs. Goldthwaite
We will be assessing our unit 2 wonders this week. Our math assessment showed we need some practice with writing the numbers 0-20. We will continue to work on this.
When you send in the extra clothing for the colder weather. I will send back the ones I have in the classroom.
I will be putting in the book order this week. Our December order will go out soon. This will help out to get them back in time for the holidays. BOOKS are a great gift!
WISH LIST: clorox wipes trying to keep the classroom clean of germs. Thanks for your support.
If you are receiving this news letter. Would you just send me a email saying you do? Just wondering how many families it is reaching. Thanks
