New Teacher!

Our 3rd grade team will be welcoming a new face this week. Sabrina Sanderson will be joining our faculty as a 3rd grade unit. It will be hectic to begin a new year in a new school weeks into the year.... please jump in where you can and make her feel at home :O)

Common Formative Assessments

Below you will find a link to Hall's Common Formative Assessment professional development page. Common Formative Assessment training is a MCPSS initiative that we will roll out throughout the year. Please click on the bar below to visit the page. This week's activity is a short overview of CFA 2.0. Make sure to sign in on the link provided on the page.

This year we will choose Professional Development in the CFA 2.0 process as one of our PLP indicators in Educate Alabama. Your participation will be documented as PLP evidence. Mrs. Gray will also assign PD hours to you in STI-PD for PD sessions provided by Ms. Miller on the first Thursday of each month. These sessions will help you begin the process of writing your CFAs according to the CFA 2.0 design.

Side note: this is a slowwwwww process of learning to design better assessments. It's not meant to be "another thing". (We are going to learn to create Common Formative assessments within our Units of Study.) It's not something that we will throw at you all at once. It's not something that should add additional stress! It is a year-long learning process. Goal: steady, focused & purposeful... :O)

Please continue to progress monitor students that are Urgent Intervention (Red) and Intervention (Yellow). We will pull reports again before PST, so all testing should be complete by WEDNESDAY 9/9. All students on your roll need to take STAR before this window ends (including Special Education students).

STRIDE Academy

The PMA testing window opens on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. As part of the CLAS grant, all K-5 students are required to take the PMA four times a year. Please make sure all students in your class take both the Reading and Math PMA by September 9, 2015 so we can use this data for PST. If you have any questions about STRIDE, please let Ms. Miller know. If you have any technology concerns send them to Mrs. Gray.

Parent Contact Logs

Please be sure that you have a sheet for each student in your Parent Communication Binder. Be sure to log all communication on these sheets. You also have a master sheet in the front of the binder that you should be adding tally marks to when you make a contact. This sheet will be given to Mrs. Gray at the end of the quarter as documentation of parent contacts.
