The "411" from Sports & Entertainment Marketing

Big Increase in CTE, year 2!

A new class of Sports & Entertainment Marketing (SEM) students filled room 305 in September, adding to the original class who are now in SEM2 as juniors. The new class of sophomores chose this program of study in May during a recruitment fair and they are off to a great start. 305 continues to be "a-buzz" with the energy of hands-on-learning projects and the new SEM students are collaborating as they learn the 4P's of Marketing.

Each of the three CTE programs at Kensington Business High School have increased student enrollment this year. The addition of Accounting & Finance has created a unique position for K-Business, which is currently the only high school in the Philadelphia School District with all 3 programs in the Business Cluster. The flagship program is Business Administration and Technology, student in this program are active members of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Both SEM and Accounting and Finance are members of DECA.

Making MEMEs for Motivos, Bilingual Magazine

SEM2 students are collaborating with Motivos, Bilingual Magazine founder and publisher Jenee Alicia Chizick to create content for a feature article in the December/Winter edition of the magazine. Students worked with Ms. Chizick during the first of a two part creative writing workshop on October 30th to brainstorm about the topic of drug and alcohol availability. Students used their creative writing skills to create unique and personal stories and Memes as a means to illustrate the growing problem of drug and alcohol consumption through their eyes. Motivos Magazine is printed quarterly and distributed via participating youth-serving organizations, schools, libraries, cultural organizations and colleges in the United States, Puerto Rico and Columbia.

A BIG shout out to our beloved and sorely missed instructional leader, coach and cheerleader, Dr Weissman. Her vision and mission to increase CTE (Career and Technical Education) at Kensington International Business High School is the reason our program exists. We hope to make you proud! Love you.
