MP Middle Messenger
Week 8: 10/30/2020
Parent/Teacher Conferences are MONDAY, Nov 2!
The goal of Monday is a quick check in between parents and teachers - so please have your most pressing question for your child's teacher ready at the correct time!
Due to elections on Tuesday, November 3, all MPCS school offices will be closed. Teachers will be grading and developing materials for their classes, and it is a student holiday with no new assignments. I encourage you to check your child's grades and use this day as an opportunity to complete missing work.
Only SEVEN school days left in Quarter 1! Make sure to check your child's PowerSchool and make sure any/all missing assignments are made up next week. We want everyone to have the best possible grades to start off the school year! Grades close on November 10th!
The Fall Book Fair Starts MONDAY! Check out the library section to learn how you can purchase books for your child's personal library, including shipping them directly to your home! Each purchase of a great book also supports the MPMS library - so your support helps out the school too! (Feel free to start holiday shopping - with books!)
Principal's Advisory Council is a monthly meeting amount a small group of students from each grade level and Dr. Sieloff to discuss how to make MPMS a great school. This week all students were emailed with the link to the application. The application window closes next week - so if you think your child would be interested in making MPMS great - have them complete the application below!
And finally, we are working with LifeTouch to schedule an opportunity for school Picture Day in the month of November. Once that date and process is finalized, parents will be emailed a link and instructions to reserve a photo appointment. These appointments will be during a week day and will be exclusive to the appointment holder. There will not be any walk-in photo opportunities. Be on the lookout for that email sometime next week!
Need Tech Support?
If your child is experiencing any technology trouble, please email it.support@mpark.net. They will assist with any technology needs and repairs.
If you need a Wifi hotspot, they are available! Please email it.support@mpark.net to arrange a pick up at MPMS.
Check out some Student work from this week!

Even More Student Work!
GoGuardian is Coming to MPMS!
As some of you might remember from MPE, GoGuardian is a software used by the school division to help teachers monitor student Chromebook screens and support students. Starting this weekend, GoGuardian will be coming to MPMS!
GoGuardian also is a monitoring service that monitors student activity throughout all hours of the day. As such, this is a reminder of good internet practices and digital citizenship that all Manassas Park students should be practicing whenever using our internet connected devices and our mpcs4learning.com accounts.
Teachers will also be able to access student computers to see their screen and support the learning of their students.
So be ready for something new (or familiar from previous school years) - next week!
