We are supporting Operation Care Package by donating new (or gently used) paperback books and comics to soldiers. The troops appreciate, enjoy, read and reread all books and comics received. Help us support our troops! Donations will be accepted at every PARC event. So please remember to bring them when you come to see Michael Carton on April 27th.
We are looking forward to learning new ways to incorporate Legos into learning with our colleagues from Prairie Area Reading Council. We hope to see you there on April 27th!

Service Projects - Jen Burisek
THANK YOU! To members of Prairie Area who donated new and gently used books to Operation Care Package! Our books are on their way overseas to troops who read and reread anything they can get their hands on. Your donations mean so much! Donations (or new and/or gently used paperback books and comics) accepted at every meeting. Want to know more about Operation Care Package? Follow the link! http://www.operationcarepackages.org/
Not sure how to honor the special women in your life this Mother’s Day? Make them a Book Angel! Prairie Area supports Anderson’s Book Angels Program; collecting donations to purchase books for students in need around the holidays. We’d be happy to create a certificate acknowledging the donation; please contact Jen Burisek for more information. writingteach313@yahoo.com
Teaching Resources - Nicole deVerdier
ILA's Daily Literacy - Great book ideas! National Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) Day is celebrated annually on Beverly Cleary’s birthday, April 12. Teachers, librarians, and parents can find resources related to D.E.A.R. to encourage everyone to put other things aside everything and take time to read every day. The recently published fiction and nonfiction books reviewed in this column invite readers to explore engaging stories and information that will spark discussion and further inquiry.
Reading Rockets - Amazing resource for teachers, parents, and kids! This site has teaching videos, blogs, informative articles, and fun games for kids. There is so much to explore - it will have you visiting all year round.
Read Works - Registering is free and doing so opens the door to numerous high-quality resources for teachers on comprehension, vocabulary, and assessment.
