This Week in Black History!
This week we spotlight the Buffalo Soldiers. They were an African-American Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army (1867-1896) who courageously fought many battles to defend American westward expansion. Their military service was a strategy to obtain equal rights for the African-American man and ultimately the African-American people. HSE in the first year of trying to achieve Character School Recognition received Honorable Mention recognition. This is an excellent honor as we bypassed Emerging recognition with our first try. In many cases, it takes several years to achieve State Character Recognition, and HSE actually just missed by .01 of a percentage point this school year. With the help of our wonderful school community of students, parents, and school staff our hope is to achieve State Character School recognition this next school year and National Character School recognition the following school year. Thank you EVERYONE for contributing to the betterment of HSE.
